Virtual consultations
Virtual consultations offer convenient medical advice from home via video/phone. They're ideal for minor ailments, chronic condition management, or second opinions.
The following medical services can be followed after a virtual consultation with your doctor - Electronic Prescriptions: Your doctor can electronically send prescriptions directly to your preferred pharmacy for medication collection.
Referrals to Specialists: If further investigation or specialized care is needed, the doctor can issue electronic referrals to specialists (e.g., cardiologists, dermatologists, surgeons).
Pathology/Laboratory Requests: Requests for blood tests, urine tests, or other lab work can be sent electronically to a pathology lab for you to attend.
Radiology/Imaging Requests: Referrals for X-rays, ultrasounds, MRI, or CT scans can be issued, which you would then take to a radiology practice.
Follow-up Virtual Consultations: For ongoing management of chronic conditions or to review test results, follow-up virtual appointments can be scheduled.
In-Person Appointment Scheduling: If the doctor determines that a physical examination or in-person procedure is necessary, they can advise you to book an in-person consultation at their practice or another suitable facility.
Medical Certificates: For sick leave or other purposes, electronic medical certificates can often be issued.

Frail Care
Frail care, as managed by a family medicine doctor, focuses on comprehensive support for individuals, typically older adults, who experience a significant decline in physical or mental capabilities and require assistance with daily living.
Here's a summary of what that entails:
Holistic Assessment: Your family doctor conducts thorough assessments to identify the degree of frailty, underlying medical conditions, and functional limitations.
Personalised Care Plans: They develop tailored care plans addressing medical needs, medication management (reducing polypharmacy risks), nutrition, mobility, and cognitive health.
Coordination of Services: The doctor acts as a central coordinator, connecting patients and families with necessary support services like home-based care (e.g., nurses, caregivers), rehabilitation, occupational therapy, or specialist referrals.
Preventative Focus: Even in frailty, the aim is to maintain independence, prevent complications (like falls or infections), and enhance quality of life, often guiding decisions about long-term care facilities if home care becomes insufficient.
Family Support & Guidance: They provide essential guidance and emotional support to families navigating the challenges of caring for a frail loved one, ensuring informed decision-making.
