Telehealth
What is Telehealth?
Telehealth/ Telemedicine
Telehealth is defined as a remote consultation between a practitioner and patient via telephone or virtual platform.
The HPCSA also expanded the application scope to include patients who do not have an existing practitioner-patient relationship.
The HPCSA specifically referred practitioners to ethical Rule 27A
Using GoodX platform - myGC: Our doctors use the GoodX/myGC platform to do our online consultations.
What are the benefits of teleconsultation?
Benefits
1. There is less chance of catching new illnesses by keeping social distancing from other patients 2. It increases the efficiency of the practice to assist a broader base of patients 3. Patients with limited mobility have better access to healthcare, e.g. frail patients 4. The whole consultation process is quicker for patients who e.g. don’t have to travel 5. It is cost-effective, seeing that patients have the ability to engage in Telehealth rather than go to an emergency room for no good reason. 6. Allows multiple members of a team to interact and collaborate in patient care, e.g. specialists.
Steps to make the booking
The process to follow
1. You make a call to our office (WhatsApp 0665886671) and we shall send you the link to register and book your appointment. 2. If you are a new patient, you will need to complete some basic demographic information on the platform so the Practitioners can import the needed information into our software. This will make the clinical and billing part easy for the Practitioner. 3. Once your preferred doctor is ready, the doctor will start the Telehealth consultation with the Patient at the scheduled time.
What happens next?
1. As soon as the practitioner answers the call, the patient and practitioner are joined into the video call and they can commence with the consultation. 2. When the practitioner and the patient meet on the video call, a booking for that consultation is created on the electronic diary of the practitioner. 3. Your details will be imported into the Practitioner's software. 4. After the consultation you will be billed via the medical aid you have provided.
5. Cash patient will receive an online link to make the payment to start the consultation
